My Top 6 Wardrobe Staples for Mild Winters

January 25, 2017

Hey guys! Today I’m sharing my all time favorite wardrobe staples for mild winters. It doesn’t get very cold here in the desert, so a few key items are all I really need for a solid winter closet! These 6 things have been on repeat for me all winter, and I love each and every one of them. Read on to find out what they are!

Herringbone vest

I wear my herringbone vest ALL. THE. TIME! Mine is a little long & bulky on me because I’m super short (just under 5 feet) but I don’t mind because that just means more warmth. I love being able to throw it on over a sweater or flannel for chilly mornings and nights, and then easily take it off for the warmer part of the day. And I just love a classic herringbone pattern, but a vest like this is great in any color!

Mine is old from Old Navy but here are some similar ones:

Leather booties

I’m so glad these short booties are in style right now! Where I live in Arizona, it’s too warm most of the time for tall boots. These leather booties are perfect for a little warmth but not too much, and they can easily be dressed up or down. Perfect for everyday wear during mild winters!

Plaid flannel

Flannel buttondowns are the perfect fall and winter wardrobe staple. I love a cozy plaid flannel, especially in this windowpane pattern that I’ve been obsessed with lately! My other fave is the classic red and blue checked one pictured above with the herringbone vest. These shirts are seriously so versatile! Throw one on over a tee and leave it unbuttoned; tie it around your waist if it gets too warm; tuck it, untuck it; there are so many options! Not to mention you can look put-together but feel comfy at the same time.

Mine is old from J.Crew but here are some styles & colors I love:

Rubber rain boots

I’ve owned these boots for a few years now and I’m as in love with them as ever. They’re the only tall boots I own since it’s rarely cold here, and they come in handy year round whenever it rains. They’re so warm which makes them perfect for the occasional extra cold days in winter. (And lucky for me I was able to get the kids’ size for half the price!)

Cozy blanket scarf

What’s winter without big fluffy scarves? There’s hardly anything I love more than a cozy blanket scarf. It’s like walking around with an actual blanket around your neck! I love a good neutral color for scarves because you can match them with anything. Mine is cream colored with (my fave) windowpane plaid checks on it.

Mine is old from Old Navy but here are some other great options:

Green utility jacket

If you live somewhere with mild winters then you know that big heavy coats are just not necessary. This canvas jacket is warm without being bulky so it’s perfect for pairing with a chunky scarf. I just love this casual style and think that this army green color looks great on everyone!

I hope these items help you plan your winter essentials if you live somewhere with mild winters! Are your wardrobe staples anything like mine? I’d love to know what’s on your list of favorites!

Becka
